about us

Paul has been working as a carpenter since 1980.
He started as an apprentice with a local building firm. The apprenticeship
lasted for 3 years, it was split into blocks of six weeks at Crawley
College then six weeks gaining hands on experience with the building
firm. After the apprenticeship finished Paul stayed on for another year
until he decided to go self – employed. In this period Paul sub – contracted
to carpentry firms and builders carrying out a variety of jobs, the
majority of which was new buildings, dealing with all carpentry work
from floor joists to roofing to first and second fixing.
In the mid to late 1980′s Paul worked for a firm that specialised in
truss roofing which involved travelling around the South East and London
working on mainly large commercial buildings. Examples of which are
the Securicor building and the offices on the old Agates site in Horsham.

Then when the recession of the 1990′s happened work was a bit hard to
find and Paul was fortunate enough to work on the new shops and flats
in Jengers Mead Billingshurst. This job led to another, a new housing
estate in Mile Oak by which time we were coming out of recession. Things
were starting to boom again with new housing in Littlehampton, Rustington,
Storrington, Ford and Findon.
One of Paul’s favourite jobs was working at Roedean School in Brighton.
The job involved building a theatre on the side of the school. The most
pestigious job was working at Richard Rogers house in the Kings Road
Chelsea which involved making one property out of two adjoining properties.
Richard Rogers was the architect of the LLoyds building in London, Centre
Pompidou in Paris and more recently Heathrow Terminal 5.
During the past 30 years Paul has experienced a wide variety of work
and is looking forward to experiencing other challenges in the future.
